Twickenham Stadium, Twickenham

Main Contractor: Shepherd FM
Client: AJR Office Interiors Ltd
Project Value: £250k

Following the successful execution of a large project at Mercedes Benz , the same team was reassembled to convert an area of the stadium to offices. These offices were to house 180 people as the Logistics HQ for the Rugby World Cup 2015. The design required a second set of parameters, after the World Cup, the area was to be returned to hospitality use with a potential occupancy of 325 people.

With a brief to use the existing chilled & hot water services, we designed an HVAC system using Ability 4 pipe fan coils & bespoke AHUs by VES. The systems were designed with the necessary expansion to accommodate the long term use as a hospitality area, but were set up & commissioned for the immediate use as offices for the World Cup.

There was no ceiling, instead the floor was open from slab to slab with a height of 5m. The AHUs were located within the demise so very careful consideration had to be given to operational noise. Also, the louvres serving the AHUs were on the front side of the stadium & were bespoke manufactured to fit in with the aesthetic of the stadium fa├žade.

An extremely tight programme was achieved by the whole team, witness testing on the HVAC systems was signed off & the project handed over to RFU on time & on budget.
